Urdu is the national language of the Land of the Pure Pakistan. However, with the passage of time our national language seems to be losing its importance. With the advent of the web, this trend has become even more apparent. English is undoubtedly the prevalent language on the World Wide Web. While the internet has brought us a lot of convenience, the dominance of the English language has diminished the significance of other languages.

For the English-speaking population, the internet is a one-click knowledge database that can provide access to the latest news, an encyclopedia, reference or even escape fro boredom. On the other hand, it has encumbered information access on the Web for many people not fluent in English. However, for the general Pakistani population, the Web is an unfathomable chasm of bewilderment and obfuscation.

For those of us that have access to the Web, there is the constraint of using the English script which consequently, leads to the use of Roman script which consequently, leads to the use of Roman Urdu for email, chat and text messaging, the Roman Urdu script is plagued with an assortment of spelling variations, which only adds to the aforementioned confusion.
