Islamabad to be equipped with Scanners to check explosives

Law enforcement authorities in the federal capital will be provided scanners to detect explosives and weapons to monitor the entry of terrorists and explosive-laden vehicles into the city. Interior Ministry sources said first two of over 20 scanners have been received from China and would soon be installed in Islamabad to ensure maximum security. The scanners will be installed at all entry points to the city and wuold help check vehicles and goods carriers. The results of this initial monitoring exercise will be monitored closely and only suspected vehicles would be checked through the scanners.

Safety measures will also be taken during the checking to protect passengers from radiation from the hightech devices. The sources said that a team of 10 police personnel - an assistant supreintendent of police and nince constables with the necessary knowledge of computer usage, had already received training in China to operate the scanners.
