Well, I was listening FM while driving a few days ago on Shahrah-e-Faisal, and I heard something very interesting. A RJ was having a discussion with his live callers for asking that this year, the Valentine day comes on Sunday. So he was asking students and youth generation that what will they have to say to their parents on Sunday that why (they) are going out of home on Valentine Day. And I amazed that there was a long que and specially female teenager were calling and say “I will say to my parents that I am going to collect the notes from my friend“  - and mainly students were focusing on that specific idea.

Everyone is well aware that in the evening on Valentine day, the traffic at Sea View and DHA is Jam due to celebrating couples are desperate to celebrate that day.

Now !! where are we going? having an Islamic Republic nation, we are purely celebrating Valentine day with full of our emotions & love. And the best part is, our Media including FM are supporting and diverting young generation to that kind of activities. ProvePakistan.com does not support that kind of activities in Pakistan.  Please join us for that cause.

  1. This extremly shame full for us.

  2. I don’t think if people are celebrating valentines day in Pakistan then it should be a problem. Media like television and radio are for entertainment only and if you listen to that, do you think it is an Islamic act? You listen to music when you tune into any of the radio channels. Is music and most of the poetry of the song according to the teaching of Islam?

Anyways, the country is in much crisis to just bring up issues like if we should or shouldn’t celebrate Valentines day.

  3. I will leave others to reply you for that comments Annie

  4. I think if u love Pakistan and have a fear of Allah that what is happened on our country for past few years if in this secnario where there is no light, gas, petrol and water etc i think every Pakistan should offer five time prayers and do Astarfargh from Allah for our sin rather than celebrating evils acts like Valentine days.because in Islam every day is a valentine day.I think those who r friend of evil always celebrating that day and those who love Allah and fear from Allah shouldnt do that act .
    Thanks
    Naveed Asif

  5. Well Annie,
Listening to songs and watching movies does not justify that I can start drinking.
Similarly they can never justify that we start dating. we have to define our limits and we have to respect them.
It’s not just valentines day, it’s not right anyways and we all know this, but still want to have fun. May Allah show our young generation the right path … Ameen.
And by the way … I am also young and I know my limits.

  6. I Think she is rite to say that there are so many crises in Pakistan to be solved.. but being a citizen the solution of that problems are out of our reach. But where we can help our nation we should do it yar ! Such kind of little issues must be solved by us…..!! Listen ! Can we Change our leader??? can we forbid him from money laundering & Whatever he is doing now a days??Can we free Dr. Afia from American prison???? Can we stop Suicide Bombing?? of course NOOOOOO!!!! then Why should not we stop our Nation celebrating Days Like that!!! If we will not stop it today, people must started to celeberate Holy & Devali’s type of events Tomorrow…!!!! For God Sake ! WAKE UP PAKISTAN…….

  7. @ Annie. I wonder what is your actual name, for this too, for sure is a nick name. You are absolutely right that the nation is in greater crises than the issue of celebrating the Saint Valentine’s day. It is a minor one, so once we have settle the bigger issues we can look into the smaller ones. Just, by the way, hopin tht eh small issues do not become big in the meanwhile.

So, Annie, what is your suggestion, how to not worry about the issues as celebrating such days, and to worry about the ‘actual crises’.

I will want to hear more, for sure.

  8. I agree with Mr. Khurram. Its very shamefull for us being muslims

  9. This is very shameful act and it stirs bad thinking. We should’nt be supporting by any means as It is also against the principles and teachings of Islam.

  10. Annie it is very shamful that being a muslim we are arguging on our islamic teachings. and giving reasons on what we are doing (wrong). infact as a responsible citizen of an islamic country we all must take stand against all these rubbish. this infact killing our young generation and we are moving away from true spirit of our religion. this is the reason, every next day we hear news about rape etc………….I as a true muslim strongly oppose valentines day. and request you annie you must also study your religion and act accordingly rather arguing and giving justification on your wrong deads.

  11. I agree with Annie…
i dont understand why every issue has to be compared in light of Islam deliberately…..Commmon yaaaar grow you r living in techno world… why these issues valentines and celeberation always effected by religion, cast, politics,, for God Sake and stop this shit….. as with those things our country is not capable to face other countries….. please …… look what people are doing in our country in the name of Islam… killiing thier childrens, false preaching in masajids, talibanization, burning girls school…. cammmon … go and stop those rather to criticize on VALENTINES DAY….its a day of love and Islam is a relgion of peace n love…..

  12. First of all, I’d like to shed light on the origin of this festival, known as “Valentine Day” or “Festival of Love”:

The Festival of Love was one of the festivals of the pagan Romans, when paganism was the prevalent religion of the Romans more than seventeen centuries ago. In the pagan Roman concept, it was an expression of “spiritual love”.

There were myths associated with this pagan festival of the Romans, which persisted with their Christian heirs. Among the most famous of these myths was the Roman belief that Romulus, the founder of Rome, was suckled one day by a she-wolf, which gave him strength and wisdom.

The Romans used to celebrate this event in mid-February each year with a big festival.

One of the rituals of this festival was the sacrifice of a dog and a goat. Two strong and muscular youths would daub the blood of the dog and goat onto their bodies, then they would wash the blood away with milk. After that there would be a great parade, with these two youths at its head, which would go about the streets. The two youths would have pieces of leather with which they would hit everyone who crossed their path. The Roman women would welcome these blows, because they believed that they could prevent or cure infertility.

The connection between Saint Valentine and this festival:

Saint Valentine is a name which is given to two of the ancient “martyrs” of the Christian Church. It was said that there were two of them, or that there was only one, who died in Rome as the result of the persecution of the Gothic leader Claudius, c. 296 CE. In 350 CE, a church was built in Rome on the site of the place where he died, to perpetuate his memory.

When the Romans embraced Christianity, they continued to celebrate the Feast of Love mentioned above, but they changed it from the pagan concept of “spiritual love” to another concept known as the “martyrs of love”, represented by Saint Valentine who had advocated love and peace, for which cause he was martyred, according to their claims. It was also called the Feast of Lovers, and Saint Valentine was considered to be the patron saint of lovers.

One of their false beliefs connected with this festival was that the names of girls who had reached marriageable age would be written on small rolls of paper and placed in a dish on a table. Then the young men who wanted to get married would be called, and each of them would pick a piece of paper. He would put himself at the service of the girl whose name he had drawn for one year, so that they could find out about one another. Then they would get married, or they would repeat the same process again on the day of the festival in the following year.

The Christian clergy reacted against this tradition, which they considered to have a corrupting influence on the morals of young men and women. It was abolished in Italy, where it had been well-known, then it was revived in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when in some western countries there appeared shops which sold small books called “Valentine’s books”, which contained love poems, from which the one who wanted to send a greeting to his sweetheart could choose. They also contained suggestions for writing love letters.

As regards the Islamic stance on this festival, Dr. Su`ad Ibrahim Salih, professor of Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) at Al-Azhar University, states the following:

Indeed, Islam is the religion of altruism, true love, and cooperation on that which is good and righteous. We implore Allah Almighty to gather us together under the umbrella of His All-encompassing Mercy, and to unite us together as one man. Allah Almighty says: (The believers are naught else than brothers. Therefore make peace between your brethren and observe your duty to Allah that haply ye may obtain mercy.) (Al-Hujurat 49: 10)

Focusing more on the question in point, I can say that there are forms of expressing love that are religiously acceptable, while there are others that are not religiously acceptable. Among the forms of love that are religiously acceptable are those that include the love for Prophets and Messengers. It stands to reason that the love for Allah, and His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) should have the top priority over all other forms of love.

Islam does recognize happy occasions that bring people closer to one another, and add spice to their lives. However, Islam goes against blindly imitating the West regarding a special occasion such as Valentine’s Day. Hence, commemorating that special day known as the Valentine’s Day is an innovation or bid`ah that has no religious backing. Every innovation of that kind is rejected, as far as Islam is concerned. Islam requires all Muslims to love one another all over the whole year, and reducing the whole year to a single day is totally rejected.

Hence, we Muslims ought not to follow in the footsteps of such innovations and superstitions that are common in what is known as the Valentine’s Day. No doubt that there are many irreligious practices that occur on that day, and those practices are capable of dissuading people from the true meanings of love and altruism to the extent that the celebration is reduced to a moral decline.

  13. all of these types of activities are promoted during the musharraf time, after being the allie of america, with the funding of western countries they want to damage our social system, sorry to say this the media is also funded by them, the black faces of media which were seen by the nation few days ago, in the american ambassy, how they are acting? its a shameful for entire nation , so how we expect positive guidence from these black faces anchors and journalists,

  14. This is very shameful act as it stirs bad thinking.

  15. It’s all rubbish

  16. Annie I am not saying that you are wrong but I am also not saying that you are right. This country was made for one and only reason, “A country that should have Islamic law and must be for the true purpose of Islam.” You mentioned that listening to songs and poetry etc are also not allowed in Islam, yes you are right but you cant go saying like this that those things are not allowed and people do that so why don’t they drink alcohol. There are some things that should be strictly banned. In this county more than 3, 00,000 kids die due to direa every year, more than 100 kids have polio, TB is a common disease in this country and HIV is only under 1% and you have help lines for HIV, you have education programs for HIV and a complete team is working on this but no one is looking at direa, TB and other common diseases.
My point is you can not just go blindly and follow west. Pakistan is a Muslim country and in Muslim culture there is no Valentine day. Can you prove it???? Every day for us is a mother’s day this is what Islam teach us, Islam has put heaven under your mothers feet, but just to blindly follow West we celebrate mothers day. Have you ever seen that why they celebrate it, because most of them have put there old mother and father in the old houses and they are so busy that they can’t meet them everyday so they designated a day.
Please try to understand that if there are many things going wrong in this country we can not allow more wrong things to happen just by saying, “Media like television and radio are for entertainment only and if you listen to that, do you think it is an Islamic act? You listen to music when you tune into any of the radio channels. Is music and most of the poetry of the song according to the teaching of Islam?”
This is the inferiority complex we have which comes out on days like valentine day and others. If we every try to actually see who we are and what Muslims have done in the history only then we can have good confidence.

  17. at least don’t send these kind of mails to the non Muslims cause u people do not even have respect or shame what you’ll speak for the non Muslims i will highly appreciate for your your kind concern go and knock the doors of the Muslims who will celebrate the valentines day. no one have any control over anything this is the brutal fact .

  18. Pakistan is already in a ditch and you’ll guys have nothing else only pickings up arms on silly things

  19. Most people in our country support the valentine day because they think if we are listening to music and other media, why dont we do this. The idea is partially right, but does any one realize what we are doing for a moment. I think no one will think about that if we read Quran and Sayings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Those who see these comments, just lie down in your bed and think for a moment alone and then read Quran and Hadith. I assure all muslims that you will come out from the darkness created by Saitan.

    Regards

  20. Noman !! are you thinking beyond the Islam? - that means we have to think to leave our religion aside

  21. There is no concept of Valentine day in Islam. We must take care while celebrating such shameful events. We should guide the Nation/new generation to the right path.

  22. Noman made me more wonder than Annie.
The appropriate answer at my end is. Listening Music, drinking alcohol or etc is also a sin but it only effects you personally. But whenever we involve in such kind of activities like Valentine Day, that effect our generations.

So my point is not that we are not doing sins, the point is, we don’t have to demolish the Islamic trends, Parental trust etc. By the way, that kind of broad minded activities created diseases like Aids as well.

Donot go against the people, prevent the cause.

  23. Dear Annie,
If someone is doing a wrong thing it does not mean that we have got a license or an excuse to do all the wrong things. Here you are wrong that if someone is listening a music or song or playing a guitar or killing someone or blazing fire in markets or blasting oneself then we are free to do such other things just because someone else is doing such things. I hope you understand my point.

Now coming to valintine thing, well you can do anything in a so called democratic country. And thats one of the curses of democracy that if majority is wrong then their point of view is adapted as a law or general rule. (By the way we have and have never become Islamic Republic….but yes only by name). Why dont you celebrate Holi or Deewali ? its fun to celebrate such festivals ???? Sorry to say but why dont you celebrate naked walk as in some european countries they do ??? its just fun hann !!!!!!!!!! Dont we need such festivals to get rid of our tentions ??????????? Celebrating with Viski or Shampaign is also a good idea for a country like ours to releive our frustrations……..

Valentine day is a cristian festival. You can celebrate it surely if you are one. But not us the Muslims. We have got our own festivals to celebrate Dont we ?

Think ! 9sorry for being too harsh but thats the way it is )

  24. Being a Muslim its very shameful. There is no concept of Valentine day in Islam. We must take care while celebrating such shameful events. We should guide the Nation/new generation to the right path.

So please stop to celebrating such type of RUBISH.

  25. Assalamualaikum!

    Dear all,

You are all wasting your precious time on a effertless issue. I wont say any thing in favor or against, i just want to say just prevent your self from minor sins, these minor sins are the true basis of Gunah-e- Kabira. Pakistan ka matlab kya “La ILAHA ILLALLAH”. Jin ko Pakistan k islamic republic honay per aitraz hay, kindly they must leave and find them selv their appropriate country like England, USA, Norway or India. What are you doing in Islamic Pakistan. Kl ko aap ye bhi kahain gay k Holi bhi manai chahye k ye khusyoon ka tehwar hay, Dewali bhi manani chahye ye Easter ko bhi tehwar ka drja milna chahye. Techno world ki taqleed se hi ye din daikhna pad ra hay k system tabah ho gaya hay, morality khatam hay, Qoum k fasiq log qoum k hukmaran hain, Qehat or khushk saali nay dera dala hua hay, Pani ki boond boond ko tarasnay walay hain. Kabhi soch iss ki wajha kya hay? Hum or sirf hum. Kitnay hain jo paanch waqt namaz padh kr apnay gunaho se touba kertay hain, or uss per qaaim rehtay hain? Kya aap hain? think and analyze, mujhay aik saying yaad aarahi hay, “Jb kisi qoum main chor bazari, milawat, gair islami sergarmian aam ho jati hain to uss qoum k fasiq tareen log us k hukmaran bana diye jatay hain, tb intezar karo qehat ka, khushk saali ka, zalzaloon ka or intehai dard naak tabahi ka”…. So just Repent ot keep on waiting……………

  26. When you defy the orders of Allah you will be made slaves of others. Kitni Roshan Examples hain, See the Glorious Ummayads, Abbasaids, Ottomans, Undulas (Old Muslim Spain), Central Asian Muslim Empire or the Mughals in india. See their Rise and Fall, Find the reasons behind them, you will find one common thing. Defying the orders of Allah, Following non muslims spending times in endless debates of what shoul and what should not.(Munazra and Mubahisa). Aap main 99% log wo hain jin ko Quran kholay huay aik arsa guzar chuka hay, Kisi ko Quran K haqqeqi Matan or dars(Teaching) se aashnai nai hay. Jb islam ka mafhoom hi nai pata to kindly dont justify any thing or say any thing about islam Quran. i wish it could be the Farooqi Era now a days. Then i would see who comes out of their homes, lying with parents, deceving them and celebrate some stupids days and justifying their presense(why should we celebrate…huh)…

Read Quran, Explore Islam.. You wont need any false activities or this kind of events..I bet. Try is must.

    Regards

  27. Those who follow this days don’t know about the history, even i say that they are totally unaware of Islam. We should learn about the thing we follow before start and then decide.

Its really shameful for all of us since its in contradiction Islamic values.

  28. Well, it is problem in PAKISTAN now a days that we dont know about culture. I think fault is in our homes. parents are not friendly with their childreen they are
not giving time to their children and result is front of you guys.

  29. good topic guys……….

    i jut wanna say………
well we just have the names of Mushlims nothing doing like Muslims…………..As the pure Muslims have done for Islam…
This is a big shit for our youth generation and our up coming generation moving to this shit rapidly….

  30. Great, Hijvairi

  31. Seriously all of u commenting on annie & talkin about islam
how many of u offered ur Fajir prayer today…

    My point exactly…
Correct urself n all will be corrected…

  32. Viky - Once again meri jan you are getting all the thing wrong. I written already, that those steps who effect you personally is also a sin, and me myself and other are not the Mr.100%. But those activities which effects others, culture, society, parents & young generation is a serious issue to discuss. So as far as the prayer is concern so it is between you and Allah. got my point?

  33. But we will be accounted for what we have done…
    not what others have done
We are answerable for what we have done..

I do not hear a single person talkin about bribe… interest over any forum..
If this is important so is that I would really like to see you starting a topic & enlighten us in those matters..
    Thank You…

  34. well said salman ,Perfect!!!!

  35. Well Brothers and sisters in Islam,

I suggest not to waste your energy and precious time in some never ending debate. Just prevent your self from these BIDD’AT and be assured that one astray has got the path of Light. When you correct yourself, every thing will be just as it must be according to our glorious religion. Just Say NO to Valentine or any other Non Islamic Religious Celebrations. Alhamdolillah i dont celebrate it and also have convinced my friends not to celebrate this BIDD’AT.

Waisay bhi Pyarey NABI S.A.W.W ne non muslim nations k celebrations ko celebrate kernay per sakht napasandeedgi ka izhaar kia hay. To wo kaam kero gay jiss se AAQA SARQAR S.A.W.W ne mana kia to Roze Qayamat kiss munh se jao gay un k Huzoor, Sharam nahi aye gi??? Ya to keh do k marna nahi hay or Hisab Kitab bhi nai daina…Tb to mana lo bhai kiss nay roka. Ya phir turn into complete christian. J Adha Teetar Adha Batair , yeh kya hay bhai???

  36. And please ab iss issue ko bhi waisay na karain jaisay hamari GOVT ne kiya, Chief Justice ko bahal hona chahye ya nahi…Puri qoum ka tamasha laga dia. It should be closed.Sb ko pata hay kya galat hay kya sahi, ittni mazhabi taleem to Parents nay di hi hay… Ye Valentine , Basant etc sab Makhloot (Combine) gathering k bahanay hain. Elite class ki luxuries or mazhab se farar. Base less jawaz bana bana kerdiye jatay hain. Q k islam ittni Lahw o La’ab (lust full deeds) ki bilkul ijazat nahi daita. Baba na mehram ko daikhnay tk se roka gaya hay, kahan aap hathon main haath daal k badan se badan joday dunya se bakhabar phirtay ho. AQAA SARKAR S.A.W.W ne fermaya k tumharay sar main lohay ki keel gaadh di jaye to ye iss se behtar hay k tum kissi Na Mehram ko touch karo… Agay faisla aap ka. Sab ko pata hay MEHRAM main sirf MAAn, BEHAN, BAITI, BIWI, Khala, Rizaai Maan (jiss orat nay aap ko doodh pilaya ho) or rizaai Behan hain… Baki sab namehram hain.. To……………………………………?????????????????????

  37. most of above peoples are just offering their comments, while i observed that non of them is aware of history of valentine. secondly our nation has a simple tool when they dont have anything to say about any specific issue, we drop ISLAM in the mid of everything and use ISLAMIC TARKA leaving issue unsolved. all the mails (men) should ask that how many time they ignore the girls coming infront of them or on side of them, rather they donot move their neck right or left or look behind to see the figures of girls. i should aks them to correct yourself first then object on others. if some thing is giving happiness to someone in this era, let him / her enjoy of it, in a meaningful way. thanks, pray for all the best for all participants.

  38. people here are of large diversity here and i think most boys and girls spoil the name of their community and that is because their is no midpoint or such thing which distinguishes between GOOD and BAD. you have to be either one of them. and Islam certainly wants u to be GOOD.
making videos with their cell phones of their valentines and then uploading it on the internet giving away someones daughter’s dignity and pride in front of trillions of internet users.
I think we don’t have any account of these things.
I fear one day GOD FORBID our society would rank next to European countries in adultry.

  39. Rashid, I am one of them who never turn his neck to the girls. I never touched a girl in my life except my wife. To clear your point, even I was in the media field and girls were around me including alcohol.
anyways thanks Rashid to share your thoughts.

  40. AOA all!
I think yeh sab islam se doori ka nateeja hai k aj hum in kharafat ko legal bananay k liye logics dhoond rahay hain. yeh sab basically jews ka programme hai k unhon ne dunia ko sex, vulgarity or in cheeson main uljhaya hua hai aur khud woh dajal k anay ki tayyari main lagay huay hain. If you are interested please try to watch “Arrival” a movie stating the facts which every muslim must know now a days and should spread as well. This movie has 44 parts, each part of nine minutes.

  41. Dear Irfan. I will sure watch that movie.

  42. Slam All,
I have not good idea about history of Valentine’s day, but i know little bit that it is a day which u express ur feelings to ur love one, so i think its not too bad bcz if u r not involve in illegal activities then its nice, and if yes then as comment a friend: everyday is Valentine’s day. so i think its just for fun and we should take as fun not serious, part of entertainment, but improve our personalities and characters. be positive and groom ourself. look like positive nation n Muslims.

  43. I would like to reply to Noman first where he said “grow up guys why to see everything in light of Islam……”
Dear Noman it’s very simple if you are a Muslim then you have to “have to” see everything in light of Islam. Now in this society where we live we do many things and see very little things in light of Islam it’s a fault of our teachers or our parents or ourselves we can do a separate debate on that. Islam is very clear, there are some things that are strictly said “HARAM” in Quran like pig meat, alcohol and things like that, then there are many things which are explained as not to be touched or used by Muhammad (SAW). Take an example of birthday party you will not find it HARAM in Quran and not in Hadiths so you can do it but how you do it is the thing if you do it to show off then its not allowed, if you do it to compete with your neighbors and to show them that you have better money and status than them then its not allowed, if you believe that the candle you will set off by blowing wind from your mind and a wish of you will become true then its not allowed …. I hope you understand my point. Valentine was a person who supported many soldiers to get married and to enjoy one night with the spouse as the soldiers were very busy in fighting and they were loosing hope this is the story I have heard about this valentine and then on wards people celebrate this day as valentine day. If you study Islam properly you will see that Islam has not dedicated days to express your love feelings to your loved ones (excluding girls friends and boy friends), Islam has strictly said about love always every time, and one smile you give to other is taken as a SADQA i.e. reward for you. Now how you use this smile and how you express your feelings is what you have to see that this should be in the boundaries of Islam. Now you are young, energetic you like to be smart in front of girls and this that but when you will become a parent and you daughter will come to you and tell you that daddy its 14th Feb and I am going out to have good and lovely time with my boy friend and I will express my love feelings to him, will you allow her???????????????????????????? This is the point due to which every body is saying against this day. Islam strictly say that even if you don’t like your wife you have to respect her and you have to love her everyday you don’t need a DAY to express your feelings.

I hope you understand my point

    P.S.
You said it’s a techno world ……. Can you tell me which part I will get in heaven or hell by using the technology of this techno world?

  44. Dear Sikandar Abbas

You are right that we should be expressing love and peace all the time, the point of debate is that why our media and people organize things on this valentine day so specially that it looks like that it is made for us. This is blindly following the west and Islam is the most rational thing you can every see it has a valid point for every thing. Why we do not have a technology day, why we do not have a police day, why we do not have a city ownership day, these are the things we should have to make our country and city grow in positive directions instead of selling heart balloons on the TV and telling our kids that they must have a boy/girl friend to express their feelings on this day.

  45. By the way, will you be my valentine annie darling?
